Hormonal Acne

-ACNE AND SKIN.jpg

Why is my skin breaking out?

Hormonal acne is a frustratingly common problem for many women well beyond adolescence. Break outs might be one of the main reasons you first tried the oral contraceptive pill and is likely the reason you struggled to get off it. I take acne very seriously as I know first hand how damaging it can be to self esteem

What causes acne?

Acne is generally caused by high androgens (male hormones), an increased responsiveness to androgens, increased inflammation in the body or poor detoxification capacity. Several diet and lifestyle behaviours can trigger these responses such high intake of refined carbohydrates, sugars and dairy. Women suffering from PCOS are more likely to suffer from acne due to an increase in androgen production.

How do I get rid of my acne?

There are a range of highly effective dietary strategies and nutraceuticals which work by blocking androgens and helping to keep the pores in skin open and free of excess oil. We can also work to boost your liver detoxification to reduce pimples and acne.

Book an appointment today to learn how we can naturally reduce your acne without the pill, or prepare your body to stop taking the pill by treating underlying drivers of acne and inflammation first.

If you are suffering from a condition like POCS, we may require a few more sessions to bring you back in to balance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

For a decade, I battled chronic acne around my chin and jawline, irregular cycles, mood swings, hair loss, painful periods, severe digestive issues and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). You name it - I’ve been there!

I was finally able to clear my skin, regulate my cycle, be free of period pain and fall pregnant naturally with my daughter in 2020. It took me 10 years and tens of thousands of dollars in tertiary education to get the answers I needed to get better. I didn’t want other women to wait as long as I did which is why I’ve dedicated my life to helping women in the same position as I was, to learn how to interpret what their body’s so desperately wants them to understand, and then develop the right roadmap to address their unique conditions.

I'm here to help you get on track!
